Job Title: Cloud Architect (Strict / High-Bar) Role Overview We are hiring a Cloud Architect to design and govern scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native design, and architectural decision-making. You will define cloud strategy, lead system design, and ensure reliability and performance at scale. Core Responsibilities Design end-to-end cloud architectures for high-availability, scalable systems Define and enforce cloud best practices, standards, and governance Architect microservices and distributed systems in cloud environments Design networking architecture (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing) Ensure security, compliance, and identity management (IAM) across systems Optimize cost, performance, and scalability of cloud infrastructure Design disaster recovery and high-availability strategies Lead cloud migration strategies (on-prem → cloud) Collaborate with DevOps, backend, and security teams Review and guide implementation of infrastructure and deployments Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable) Deep expertise in at least one cloud platform: AWS / GCP / Azure Strong understanding of distributed systems and system design Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation) Strong knowledge of cloud networking (VPC, DNS, load balancers, gateways) Experience designing highly available and fault-tolerant systems Strong understanding of security architecture (IAM, encryption, network security) Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Solid understanding of monitoring and observability systems Preferred / High-Value Skills Multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architecture experience Experience with serverless architectures Knowledge of data architecture (data lakes, warehouses) Familiarity with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) Experience with FinOps (cost optimization strategies) Certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Architect, Azure Architect) Strict Requirements 6–10+ years of experience in cloud, backend, or infrastructure engineering Proven experience designing production-grade scalable systems Strong architectural decision-making and trade-off analysis skills Experience leading technical designs and mentoring engineers Hands-on experience — not just high-level diagrams Red Flags (Auto-Reject) Only basic cloud usage (EC2 setup, simple deployments) No experience with system design at scale Lack of understanding of networking fundamentals No hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience Pure DevOps without architectural ownership Tech Stack (Example) Cloud: AWS / GCP / Azure IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation Containers: Docker, Kubernetes CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Networking: VPC, Load Balancers, CDN What Success Looks Like Highly scalable systems with 99.9%+ uptime Optimized cloud costs without sacrificing performance Secure, compliant, and well-governed cloud environments Clear architecture patterns adopted across teams
