Job description
Work beautifully Dialpad is where work comes together—one, beautiful workspace for anywhere communication & collaboration. With the industry’s most innovative business phone system, unlimited text and team messaging, one-click video meetings, and the world’s most advanced AI Contact Center—Dialpad is completely transforming how the world works together. The team Dialpad is committed to Working Beautifully. We believe communication with your co-workers should be delightful and engaging, and the Call Experience team spends every day trying to achieve that vision. The tools of our trade are high fidelity audio and video layered over complicated, global call scenarios, immersive user experience, and beautiful visuals. We own the calling experience in every context of the Dialpad platform, including our fast-growing Contact Center product. Everything our team does is delivered in a web browser, using modern JavaScript, HTML and CSS frameworks. What You Will Achieve In your first 30 days: • Meet your manager and onboarding buddy who will assist you in getting started • Set up your development environment • Get to know a highly communicative and collaborative engineering team • Complete the engineering onboarding program, including training videos and documentation • Get introduced to starter projects that will get you comfortable working with the Dialpad codebase. In Your First 60 Days • Ramp up through educational starter projects within the Call Experience team • Receive mentorship and code reviews from your peers who love to work together, talk through projects, and actively help each other overcome roadblocks. By 90 Days • Develop a deeper comprehension of Call Experience concepts and the Call Experience codebase so you can work on more complex projects. • Build features based on the team’s quarterly goals and improve our customers’ calling experience. We are motivated by data and customer surveys to appoint which features and workflows are most important to our customers. • Learn how to do code reviews so you can contribute your knowledge with peers in the future. • Work across team boundaries contributing to our shared component library used by all product engineers Who You Are As a trusted and experienced senior front end engineer on the Call Experience team, you will own significant user-facing features and tackle technical challenges and enrich the team through your engineering experience including mentorship of junior engineers. You will lead projects with multiple engineers collaborating to deliver a major feature. You will work collaboratively in a cross functional team, including working closely with Product Managers in advocating for technical initiatives for the team and the Product Engineering organization. What we're looking for • Experience building real-time highly interactive user experiences on the web. Applications whose very nature is asynchronous. Things that we used to think could only be done with native applications: e.g. video conferencing, calling, video editing, graphics design, document editing, collaboration, webinars, • Passion and skills building user experience with minimal input from product designers. Comfort building something complex and beautiful--including the interactive time dimension--from simple mockups. • Proven skills at performance tuning complex, client-heavy web apps. • Demonstrated comfort working across the client-server boundary as necessary to deliver the best experience. • Expertise in advanced web APIs such as WebRTC, Canvas, WebGL, and Wasm is valued • Evidence that you thrive in a nimble startup environment that emphasizes complete end-to-end ownership for things you ship. • At least 5 years of professional experience doing everything above. Dialpad Benefits And Perks Equity, balance, and belonging At Dialpad, we strive to ensure that Dialers are free to bring their full selves to work each day, and champion the intersectionality that exists between gender identity, ethnicity, age, disability status, and the many other aspects of our greater humanity. Culture We’ve been named a Top Workplace seven times, and a big part of this is because of our collaborative culture that elevates our teammates, celebrates wins, and brings together passion and talent. Compensation And Equity Teamwork makes the dream work, and Dialpad offers competitive salaries in addition to stock options because each and every Dialer participates in our success. Benefits, Time-off, And Wellness An apple a day keeps the doctor away—and it doesn’t hurt that we offer flexible time off and great options for medical, dental, and vision plans for all employees. Along with that, employees also receive a monthly stipend to help cover your cell phone bill, home internet bill, home office equipment, gym membership costs, a variety of wellness events, and more! Continuing education Dialpad offers a yearly stipend for continued learning and education expenses. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and marginalized groups are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Dialpad we are dedicated to building an inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Dialpad is an equal-opportunity employer. We are dedicated to creating a community of inclusion and an environment free from discrimination or harassment.
